Maciek Nabrdalik - Homesick

Homesick by Maciek Nabrdalik is a study of Chernobyl disaster as a sociological catastrophe.

In Chernobyl Prayer, Svetlana Alexievich observed that Chernobyl disaster can be described with the same words one uses to describe war: explosion, fire, evacuation, the military, damage, casualties, monuments. If we look into the consequences on a psychological level, we can refer to the same post-traumatic stress that was experienced during the postwar trauma.
All of the people featured in Homesick, including those who managed to come back, meet in a state of longing for what they have lost, irrevocably - their homes.

Nabrdalik visited the area twelve times over eight years.
In 2017 Homesick received the Judges’ Special Recognition Award from Pictures of the Year International.
